Overseas Hotel Fees
Traveling overseas may cost even more now that hotels in some countries, such as Switzerland, Thailand, and Australia, may charge extra, up to 5% of the total bill, if you use a credit card to pay, which can add up to $70 or more. First of all, you have to use a card to book the room in the first place, so they already have you on file. And how else would the hotel expect someone to pay for the room — in cash while traveling abroad? Not likely.
