CONSPIRACY THEORY: Better Green than Red

In 2008, Nigel Lawson, ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer under Margaret Thatcher, wrote in The Daily Mail: "With the collapse of Marxism those who dislike capitalism and its foremost exemplar, the United States, with equal passion, have been obliged to find a new creed. For many of them, green is the new red." Basically, Lawson is saying is that since the end of the Cold War, Western governments have needed a new bad guy to scare their unruly citizens into obedience. Global warming has become the new global communism. (We would've thought it was global terrorism)
