Arkansas - The Whitewater Investigation

As a means of supplementing their income in the 1970's, Bill and Hilary Clinton invested in the Whitewater Development Corporation, which represented the Whitewater Estates, a group of vacation properties in Arkansas. David Hale, former banker and judge, told federal investigators that then-Governor Clinton had asked him to give an illegal loan of $300,000 to the Clintons' investment partner, Susan McDougal. The Clintons have never been formally charged with any crime.
