Real-Life GTA Crimes
In 2008, six Nassau, NY teens decided to take their love of video games off the couch and into the real world. If only their game of choice had been Mario Paint, things would have been a lot different. Instead of making murals, the boys went on a spree inspired by Grand Theft Auto: mugging and beating their way across town. (A Nassau police spokesperson said the boys "admitted" to mimicking the game. The verdict has apparently been sealed.)
In a 2003 incident, teenager Devin Moore shot and killed three police officers after being arrested for stealing a car. His attorneys tried to blame the shootings on GTA, but a judge disallowed this testimony and Moore was later executed.
