The Supreme Court decided Bush v. Gore in favor of Bush 5 to 4, thus deciding both a major court case and a Presidential election with a single vote. Of course, that does not mean Bush actually "won" the election in the Popular Vote or the Electoral College. In fact, if all the votes had been fairly counted — not even including those "hanging chads" — Vice President Gore would have won. "We know nearly for certain that the recount stopped by the Supreme Court would have given Gore the lead," confirmed New York Magazine in a 2012 rebuke of the entire decision.
