CIA vs. KGB
Hidden within the Cold War were the spy vs. spy games between the CIA and the KGB. Each were constantly on the lookout for enemy agents while guarding themselves against moles (like Aldrich Ames) among their own employees. The stakes were high: Soviets caught spying for the West could expect to be executed — as many were. Some agents turned out to be double agents, and to this day, intelligence experts debate whether Communist defectors were genuine or Soviet plants.
