The "War on Drugs" may have been in the public eye since Nixon, but overseas, the U.S. has also taken the fight to the dealers themselves. America invaded Panama in 1989, and gave military support to the Colombian government throughout the 1990s. Drug suppliers have fought back with "narcoterrorism," while drug running has become increasingly high-tech. Smugglers have even been caught using submarines to ship drugs.
