In July 1980, Keith Harary was involved in the paranormal aspects of SRI. He was called in to the government facility and told only "we have a person who needs a description." Harary focused and described a man "suffering from nausea one side of his body seems damaged and hurt." When asked where this man would be in the next few days, Harary felt a sensation of sitting on an ascending airplane. He would later find out he described Richard Queen, held by Iranian militants and desperately ill with multiple sclerosis that affected his nerves on one side.
"In part due to my input," wrote Harary, "I was later informed by contacts at SRI, President Carter dispatched a plane to bring Queen home." Harary's story has never been independently verified, however.
