The Most Wasteful Pork of 2011
$12,500 A Sentence
We all know that lawyers are overpaid, but this is ridiculous. In order to push through a bill to help West Virginia's poor and disabled citizens (like the veteran above) — a good use of state funds — cash was practically thrown at lobbyists and lawyers. The most egregious expense? A lawyer was paid $25,000 to write two sentences about the receipt of weatherization contracts. That's $12,500 per sentence. Makes $4,000 an hour helicopter logging seem downright sensible.
