VIDEO: America's Out-Of-Control Police State
Run For The Borderline
Luckily, Hunt was released "within minutes" and the police department said it would investigate the incident.
5. Should the immigration authorities have the right to stop a car traveling within the United States, without warrant or probable cause, simply because it is traveling near the border? Pastor Steven L. Anderson aims to challenge this very notion with his ongoing civil suit against the INS and the federal government, after he was stopped, stun-gunned and cut by broken glass for refusing to get out of his car at a border checkpoint. Anderson, believed to have been traveling through New Mexico at the time (where he lives), filmed his own arrest, resulting in a video in which he can be heard pointing out: "I know that you stopped me within the United States. I didn't cross any borders… and you are infringing on my rights to travel freely…"
Anderson was charged with two misdemeanors, both of which were dismissed. His suit against the government for violating his civil rights is ongoing. A press person for the Border Patrol told us: "Customs and Border Protection conducts its activities in accordance with the laws of the United States. Since this case is still in litigation, it would be inappropriate for CBP to comment further."
6. Marine Corps and Iraq War vet Scott Olsen was injured during an Occupy Wall Street protest in California… so fellow peace activists rushed to his aid. At the same time, a police officer loaded his weapon with a tear gas cannister, then launched it into the small crowd forming around the injured vet. Olsen was struck almost directly in the face by the explosive and ended up in a coma.
At a press conference, an Oakland PD spokesperson claimed that police were acting defensively in the wake of a bottle and projectile attack by protestors, and denied that the department used flash bang grenades.
