The Electoral College
In a republic, citizens at least get to elect their representatives, right? Some would argue that the Electoral College prevents a direct election of our President. The Fathers, afraid of the dumb "rabble," decided that our collective wishes would be represented by Electors who would travel to Washington and vote for them. At that point, however, there was no guarantee that your Elector would vote with the majority. Today there is more oversight, but in no way does it support the idea of "one person, one vote," with Florida's vote "counting" and Nebraska's ignored.
