Dylan's most notorious concert took place on July 25, 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival, five days after the release of his first hit rock single Like A Rolling Stone. A recording of the show seems to indicate deafening boos between songs, although several attendees claim they were furious at the poor sound mix. (Pacifist folkie Pete Seeger admitted to trying to cut the power with an ax for the same reason.) Regardless, folk purists heard the tale and were inspired to heckle the singer during his following tour.
