Before capturing our hearts in daytime television with tiny strippers and wedding-crazed transvestites, Jerry Springer had a promising political career in the 1970s. But a raid on a "massage parlor" turned up one of Springer's checks, and he was forced to resign from his city council seat. Springer fought to regain his seat on a platform of honesty and sincere regret. People took to it well, and in 1977, he was appointed Mayor of Cincinnati.
