The First (Public) Attempt to Clone a Human
In 2009, Dr. Panayiotis Zavos attempted to impregnate a group of women with cloned embryos. The fertility specialist told The Independent that he had cloned human embryos and inserted them into eleven female volunteers. However, none of these attempts resulted in a pregnancy and Dr. Zavos's efforts were for naught. His curious methodology explains his failure. Dr. Zavos stated that in an attempt to "resurrect" a ten-year-old girl killed in a car accident, he mixed her frozen blood with cow eggs to create a human-animal hybrid embryo.
