6. Pesticides (And Seafood)
Pesticides do exactly what they are intended to do: kill living things! Agribusiness loves them -- they are a cheap and effective way to kill insects and other pests that might damage crops. The human body, however, is no so keen on them -- toxins in pesticides can build up in the liver, and are linked to liver and kidney damage, brain and blood disorders, and cancer. The World Health Organization has identified seven dangerous chemicals that are still regularly used by sectors of agribusiness. One, organochlorine, is found in agricultural runoff and is linked to contaminating the world's seafood supply.
