Many plastic containers, especially those designed to hold food and drink, contain bisephenol-A (BPA). BPA has been linked to everything from cancer to infertility. Many companies now market BPA-free items but chemist George Bittner told The New York Times: "Consumers need to understand that products advertised as BPA-free or phthalate-free is a marketing solution rather than a health solution."
