New Coke
Remember "New Coke" from the 1980s? The release of the new formula is seen as one of the greatest marketing blunders of all time. Some believe that it was all a setup, and that Coca-Cola intentionally used the new formula in order to hide their transition from sugar to the cheaper high fructose corn syrup. Customers were so happy to get the "original" formula back when it returned that they barely noticed the change. (However, Snopes.com proved that Coke already had corn syrup in it before "New Coke" appeared.)
