When a group of armed Rohm supporters got the news, they confronted Hitler and his entourage on the road to Munich. Somehow Hitler persuaded the men not to shoot him then and momentarily escaped; the men then decided to ambush the Fuhrer farther down the road. At the last moment, Adolf ordered his driver to take another route home and escaped the Grim Reaper.
